IBEW Founders’ Scholarship Available
The IBEW Founders’ Scholarship honors the dedicated wiremen and linemen who founded the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Each year, the officers of the IBEW offer scholarships to working members on a competitive basis.
The scholarship is intended to support members’ personal development while helping to steward the electrical industry envisioned by our founders.
All IBEW members who have been in continuous good standing for four years preceding May 1 of the scholarship year in which they plan to apply are eligible. The award is for $200 per semester credit hour at any accredited college or university toward an associate’s, bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in an approved field. The maximum distribution is $24,000 per person over a period not to exceed eight years.
The IBEW Founders’ Scholarship application (Form 172) is available on the IBEW website at: www.ibew.org/FoundersScholarship
Spouses or children of IBEW members are not eligible for the IBEW Founders’ Scholarship. However, Union Plus offers scholarship opportunities for IBEW members, as well as their spouses and dependent children. More information is available at www.unionplus.org
Please note: If a member has been on honorary withdrawal at any time during that four-year period, they are not eligible to participate.
