Sea-3

Ten workers at Sea-3 propane facility in Newington are proud members of IBEW Local 1837. Sea-3 is a vital part of New England’s energy distribution network and is one of only a small number of liquefied gas-handling facilities operating in the United States.

Located along with Piscataqua River, the Sea-3 terminal receives approximately ten to twelve liquefied propane gas (LPG) tankers each year, primarily during the winter months when heating demand is at its highest. Once delivered, the propane is stored in refrigerated tanks onshore before being distributed to regional retailers by rail and truck.

IBEW Local 1837 represents the operations and maintenance personnel at the Newington facility who are responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing propane safely and efficiently. Their work is essential to maintaining fuel supplies for homes and businesses throughout the region, particularly during peak winter conditions.

Members at Sea-3 are part of Unit 1 and participate in Unit 1 meetings and activities. Through collective bargaining, IBEW Local 1837 works to secure strong contracts that support fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions in this critical segment of the energy infrastructure.
