IBEW 1837 Member Christopher Buzzard Dies

April 6, 2020 - Central Maine Power President and CEO Doug Herlilng announced the passing of a company employee today who was also a member of IBEW Local #1837. Christopher Buzzard, a Line Clerk for CMP in Rockland, Maine, has died. Brother Buzzard, 51, worked for Maine’s largest electric utility for more than 13 years.

Herling sent the following message to CMP employees:

“While details of his passing have not been determined, and we have not been informed that this was related to COVID-19, the cause is under investigation. However, in an abundance of caution, the Health & Safety team is working closely with his Supervisor to identify employees who might have had close contact with him in the past 14 days.

“Employees seeking help with feelings of grief or loss, now or at any other time, are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides various employee services on AVANGRID’s behalf. Experienced counselors are available to help 24 hours a day, every day. There is no cost for this service and you can reach EAP at 800-252-4555.

“As we remember Christopher’s friendship and many contributions, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time,” Herling said.
