IBEW 1837 Local and Unit Offices to be Filled at Elections Held in June

May 22, 2008 - IBEW 1837 will hold elections this year for offices at both the local and unit levels. Offices to be filled at the local level include President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, eleven Executive Board Representatives, and Business Manager/Financial Secretary. Offices at the Unit level include Unit President, Unit Vice President, and Unit Recording Secretary.

Election details and materials have been posted on the IBEW 1837 website for several weeks now, and members should already have received a letter at their homes announcing nominations (which were held at April Unit meetings). Unit 10 is the only unit where more than one candidate was seeking any of the unit offices that would normally be elected in June, so several of the others have already elected their slate of officers by acclamation.

If you did NOT receive the letter, then we may not have a current address for you and you should be sure to check with the union office 207-623-1030 to be sure it is correct so you will receive your mail ballot for the local level elections.

Election of Unit officers will take place in person at the June Unit meetings. If you have not received a mail ballot for the local elections by June 3, 2008, you can contact the union office for a replacement ballot at 207-623-1030. The mail ballots must be returned in time to be received no later than midnight, June 12, 2008.

Elected officers and representatives make important decisions about the activities and direction of our union. The strength and health of our union is determined by the participation of members. All IBEW 1837 members are encouraged to exercise their democratic rights to participate in the election and voting process.
