Union members and our friends across the state of New Hampshire are working very hard to defeat the anti-union so-called "Right to Work" legislation (House Bill 821) that has been proposed in Concord. And we might win! But there is more to do before we are there.

Be alert for phony phone calls!

Some union members have been called by a group claiming to be from "the union" and urging them to support this legislation. When one person asked what group the person was calling from, he was told "The Chicago Labor Federation". We have contacted the CLF and they assured us that they do NOT support "Right to Work" and have not been making any calls related to it. If you receive a call like this, please ask the person where they are calling from, and if you can get any caller ID information please jot it down and get it to the New Hampshire AFL-CIO at 603-623-7302 (you can leave a message for Jan Schaeffer)/


Postcards Going Great. Legislators Need Calls, Too.

More than 18,000 postcards have been signed by union members and union supporters and forwarded to their legislators. These cards are having a positive effect on some of those who haven't already solidly committed to supporting this anti-union legislation. But legislators also need to receive phone calls from constituents so they know how important this issue really is, and so they really understand what's at stake.

Step 2 - Read the Tips for Talking with your Legislators
Step 3 - Find out which district you live in.
Step 4 - Find your Rep's name and phone number.
Step 5 - Pick up the phone and call!

Volunteers Needed to Sort Postcards

The New Hampshire AFL-CIO NEEDS HELP sorting thousands more postcards from union members and their families and friends addressed to your state representatives urging them to VOTE NO on HB821.

The New Hampshire AFL-CIO will deliver the post cards the day before House Legislators vote on this critical bill that is designed to weaken unions and weaken the ability of New Hampshire working families to have a voice at work.

Next Hearing March 19, 9:00 AM

The House Labor Committee will be considering testimony and voting on a recommendation to the full House on HB821 - the so-called "Right to Work" bill - on Wednesday, March 19 at 9:00 AM.

This is not a public hearing, but we still want union members and their families and our friends to attend the meeting to show our strong opposition to HB 821, a bill that has the potential to lower your paycheck and hurt New Hampshire working families.
