Annual Labor's Day Breakfast, sponsored by the Southern Maine Labor Council Once again "9 to 9", Maine's hottest labor band featuring the dynamic duo of Senator Beth Edmonds and the renowned write and musician, Portland's own Phil Hoose, will involve us in song. Photographer Guy Saldanha will have his thired series of People at Work on display along with our own "Red Sky" by Ralph Fasanella. And yes, once gain, there will be poems and politics. John Radebaugh of Cape Elizabeth will receive the Working Class Hero's Award. At one time John practiced medicine in Bangor. He later taught at Dartmouth College and in between he spent three years working for Cesar Chavez and the Farm Workers Union.

Annual New Hampshire AFL-CIO Labor Day Breakfast Join members of IBEW Local 1837 and other unions from across the Granite State to observe Labor's Day with food, speakers, and good company. IBEW 1837 usually has tickets available for members who wish to attend. If you are interested in attending with the IBEW 1837 delegation, contact Tom Ryan or Cynthia Phinney at the Union Office. Advance reservations are required - preferably by August 15. Attendees are encouraged to wear their everyday work clothes to the breakfast!

Daylong training and refresher for experienced IBEW 1837 stewards. The class will be conducted by Charley Richardson and Susan Winning of the University of Massachusetts Labor Extension. The class is tentatively scheduled to take place in York, Maine. Stewards interested in finding out more or participating in the school should contact the Union Office.

A daylong training for new stewards or members considering becoming stewards in the future. The school will be conducted by Bill Murphy and Gary McGrane from the University of Maine, Bureau of Labor Education, in consultation with IBEW 1837 staff. Experienced stewards who have never had the basic class may also be interested in this training. The training is tentatively scheduled to take place in York, Maine. Members who are interested in participating in the school should contact the union office.
